Earth to Earth
Did you know that Hong Kong produces more than 3,600 tonnes of food waste per day, most of which goes into the landfills? Our current facilities can only process 200 tonnes of the food waste on a daily basis. What we can do as individuals to turn the tide on food waste and climate change may seem like a drop in the ocean, but every action contributes to the larger collective effort to transform our future of our planet.
Composting to turn our food waste into a valuable resource for soil and growing food is one step that we can take. Rooftop Republic is pleased to bring you a series of 3 workshops under the Earth to Earth Composting Workshop Series to promote greater awareness of the benefits and impact of composting, and what we can do as individuals to reduce food waste through composting.
Our Programme:
This programme consist of both virtual and in-person sessions, we will take you through a journey to discover the following topics:
- What can we, as regular citydwellers and consumers do to reduce our food waste and minimise our carbon footprint within the food chain?
- What are the principles of composting, and how do we get started?
- What is the significance of composting for our climate, and our soil?
- How can you get on the path towards composting your own food waste at home?
